First time anti-Wrinkle treatment: what to expect

You may have been pondering anti-wrinkle treatment for a while and are feeling a little apprehensive. You may have questions and are feeling a little anxious about what to expect. Here at Michelle Louise Aesthetics, it is important to us that you feel informed about what to expect, so we have put together a little guide to help you with your decision.

The Consultation:

A thorough consultation allows us to understand your concerns and desired outcomes. Understanding this can help us tailor your treatment plan to your individual needs....remember everyone is unique! We'll assess your suitability and ask questions about your medical history to make sure the treatment is right and safe for you.

Meet our Prescriber:

If you decide to go ahead, we will arrange for you to have a face to face consultation with our prescriber. Taking your medical history into consideration, if appropriate, you will be issued with a prescription. You will then return to clinic for a different appointment for your treatment.

The Treatment:

Before photos will be taken - this is important as anti-wrinkle injections do not work instantly so these photos will be used to refer back to. The treatment area is cleaned and numbed if desired. The injection sites are marked out and a small needle is used to inject the product into the targeted muscles. The procedure takes a few minutes. Patients have described it as 'like a little pinch'.

Aftercare:

• Avoid touching the injection sites or rubbing the area for 24 hours.

• No vigorous exercise for 24 hours.

Small bumps under the skin are to be expected but will disappear after a couple of hours. It is best to avoid any facials, saunas or chemical peels for 72 hours.

Results - What to expect:

Anti-wrinkle injections aren't instant. You will start to notice a difference after about 4 days, with the optimum results showing at 2 weeks. After this time your results will gradually fade over a period of 3-4 months.

Follow-up:

After 2 weeks we will see you back in clinic to review your results. This is so we can make necessary adjustments to any future treatments.
